LEGO NASA Apollo Saturn V 21309 Build Time Lapse

There’s a few moments when brand collaborations turn out to be more than just cash grabbing corporate greed or just plain tackiness. I won’t list the examples as I am not that kind of person, I’d much rather spend my time talking about the cool stuff, why it’s exciting and what makes it such a winner. Not only am I a huge lifelong LEGO fan, but also a space nerd and very much obsessed with the NASA Apollo missions specifically.

My parents actually got me the Lunar Lander set for Christmas and as soon as I finished that one, I had a serious inner monologue and thought “why the F, have I not got the Saturn V model yet? What’s wrong with me??” So I went to LEGO.com and it came up saying “retiring soon” but luckily, a retailer still had some stock, so I pounced on it right there and then.

This build is one of my favourite LEGO builds ever. My fave of all time might still be the large R2-D2, but this comes close. The build was about 6 hours ish and was fun, as they always are. But the finished model itself is great to look at. Whether it’s standing upright, or using the display stands to lay flat on a surface. Check out the video I’ve posted of the build and the overall model.

Can you believe it’s been 50 years since the Apollo 11 mission?! Absolutely crazy! Fortunately we have some new launches coming in the 2020’s planned and not only from NASA or the ESA, but even SpaceX themselves. What I would give to fly there one day.

What are my fellow LEGO fans working on at the moment? You guy’s managed to bag this one too?
